NEWS RELEASE
2 July 2007

New dates announced for Allworld’s Food, Hotel and Tourism Bali 2008

Food Hotel & Tourism Bali 2008, an Allworld Exhibitions event taking place from Feb 28-29 and March 1, is already set to break all its own records, as Bali's hospitality sector returns to double-digit growth across the board. Says organiser Ian Roberts of PT Pamerindo Buana Abadi: "We are delighted that the long-awaited resurgence in Bali's food, hospitality and tourism sector is now a reality, and this is certainly reflected in the huge interest being registered in the event."

FHT Bali 2008, incorporating Retail Indonesia 2008, is the 6th in the series, and is set to surpass by some distance the 2006 show, which drew some 260 exhibiting companies from nearly 30 countries, and well in excess of 5000 visitors. It will take place in the grand facilities of the Bali International Convention Centre in Nusa Dua.

The show will once again feature food, beverages, equipment and technology for the hotel, restaurant and retail sectors, as well as one of the region’s most exciting Salon Culinaires. And once again it has the official support of all the major government and trade agencies for the tourism, retail, hotel and restaurant industries.

In the run-up to FHT Bali 2008, newly announced figures show tourist arrivals up by 40 per cent during the first four months of 2007, marking the strongest start to any year on record and a return to highs recorded in previous years.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has just launched Bali's new tourism logo and campaign to enhance further the province's tourism recovery internationally.

Overall, Indonesia's annual economic growth rate has increased to almost 6 per cent. The government is also planning legislation to relax investment rule to draw increased overseas investment by 2009 to spur growth beyond 6 per cent.

Food consumption patterns have been changing in recent years due to increasing disposable incomes, more fast food outlets, increased amounts of imported foods and modernisation of the retail sector. Grocery sales rose to US$9 billion in 2006, a 10 per cent increase over the previous year.

The main drivers of growth have been increased private consumer spending, largely by the urban middle and upper classes, and consumption of processed foods is growing, aided by the development of modern supermarkets and mini-markets.

New hotel, restaurant, bar and shop developments are creating new demand for retail technology, catering equipment and contract furnishings for which APRINDO, the association for Indonesian retail merchants, forecasts very healthy continuing annual growth.
Now a major fixture on the international exhibition circuit, FHT Bali and its sub-show Retail Indonesia have the added bonus of taking place in one of the world's most famous and beautiful venues, making it a top priority for many of the world’s leading companies in the sector.

As one happy exhibitor put it after the 2006 event: "This show is recommended for all businesses because it's packed with great quality products and great people.” Don't ever miss it!"
