Food & Hotel Indonesia 2009 will run 1-4 April at the JIExpo fairgrounds, Kemayoran, Jakarta. It will be the 10th International Hotel, Catering Equipment, Food and Drink Exhibition following this year’s highly successful edition which attracted 17,958 visits from 15,937 trade and business visitors from throughout Indonesia. The unusually high level of repeat visitors was testament to the strength of the market and the sheer scale of products displayed by some 659 exhibitors.

The show, 40% bigger than the last edition in 2005, was again run in conjunction with Retail Indonesia, the International Retail Technology, Equipment, Display and Storage Exhibition and was officially inaugurated by Drs. Winarno Sudjas, Deputy Director General for Product and Business

Development on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Tourism of The Republic of Indonesia.

This year’s international pavilions came from Australia, France, India, Korea, Peru, Portugal and the USA taking space alongside Indonesia’s leading distributors and agents.

Throughout the event, the Salon Culinaire chefs’ cooking competitions were staged including Meat and Livestock Australia’s famous ‘Black Box Culinary Challenge’, won this year by the Shangri-la Hotel, Jakarta. A total of 203 young chefs challenged for top honours across 4 days of tough competition. The 19 categories of tests ranged from fruit, vegetable and ice carving to butter sculptures, live cooking competitions and table displays.

The Indonesian Food and Beverage Association (GAPMMI) held their regular seminar programme under this year’s theme ‘Quality Maintenance Strategy and Food Safety for Hotels, Restaurants and the Catering Industry’. A total of 127 delegates attended under the Chairmanship of industry mogul, Thomas Darmawan.

Exhibitors were delighted with the results:
For Glenn Brown of PT GEMA ISTANA ARTHA: “Excellent show, excellent support from the organizer and excellent results”.

Hengky Wijaya of PT KURNIA MITRA DUTA SENTOSA commented: “Great exhibition. It’s a must for everyone in the industry!”
