Big Industrial Technology Exhibition To Return In 2007

Machine Tool & Manufacturing Indonesia – Surabaya 2007 will run 6-9 June next year following this year’s highly successful event which produced 7,168 visits from 6,863 trade and business visitors.

The second edition of this annual event, held 7-10 June at the Surabaya Convention Hall, drew 253 exhibitors from 23 countries including national pavilions from Singapore and Taiwan. The 8 strong Singapore pavilion was coordinated by the Singapore Manufacturers Federation (SMA) and the 6 member Taiwanese pavilion by the Taipei Machinery Traders Association (TMTA).

The show was officially inaugurated by Mr Imam Utomo, Governor of East Java with special guest Ir. Agus Tjahajana, SE. MSc. Secretary General, Ministry of Industry, on behalf of Minister Fahmi Idris.

Following the official inauguration the Governor and guests toured the exhibition examining the vast array of new technology on display. Exhibits ranged from machine tools and metalworking technology to automation and control solutions, cutting and welding gear, test and measurement equipment and tooling.

This year the show drew praise from both international and domestic participants. For Rama A Razak at Atlas Copco Indonesia: “The best promotion gets you close to your customers and Machine Tool and Manufacturing Indonesia – Surabaya is one of the best tools for that.”

Lawrence Chan of the Singapore Manufacturer’s Federation said: “Machine Tool and Manufacturing Indonesia – Surabaya provides a great platform for the Singapore participants to explore business opportunities in Surabaya. In the coming years, this show will be one of the best in South-East Asia.”

Junil Asner Harefa of Kawan Lama Sejahtera commented: “The second Manufacturing Indonesia – Surabaya show may be over but its positive effects continue to work their way to Kawan Lama Group, so see you at the show next year.”

Indonesia’s manufacturing industry continues to thrive especially to serve export markets in Japan and North America. In his opening address, The Secretary General quoted Indonesia’s machinery imports including components at US$ 7.33 billion in 2005, an increase of 32.8 % over 2004, demonstrating the country’s huge requirement for upgraded and replacement technology.
